VR Driver Simulation Prototype – An Introduction to “Moki”
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” — Napoleon Hill
In Aug 2016 a start was made to build a proof-of-concept prototype. Here is a pictorial summary of this amazing story. Kellie jokingly christened it “Moki” as it has somewhat assumed “the other woman” status, given the time spent in the workshop on it! Turns out this cutsie name is now a generic NZ Maori term for raft, but originally meaning a large raft built from disparate materials in preparation for more difficult voyages to unknown / far-off places. How apt!

17/05/17 (3 min) Maiden Voyage with Chris – 1st ever human passenger. Some rough edges, eg controller stickiness (better potentiometers coming), clunking from base pads (will put elastomeric membrane under them), and the accumulator is not yet fitted and will make it faster and smoother when it is. But not bad for a first go! Further experimentation soon resolved minor glitches and “clunkiness”, but you will see all that in a future video when other items completed…
